James L. “Larry” Wright – Of Counsel
Larry Wright is a partner with Environmental Litigation Group, P.C. Larry’s practice includes a broad range of civil litigation, with a focus on environmental and personal injury litigation. He is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™.
Larry is a 1984 honors graduate of the University of Houston Law School and a member of the Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers. He began his law career as a briefing attorney with Justice James P. Wallace, of the Texas Supreme Court, 1984-1985. After that, Larry was with the firm of Vinson & Elkins in their Austin office for five years before joining Mithoff & Jacks in 1990 (becoming a shareholder in 1992) and then the Watts Law Firm, L.L.P. in 2006.
Larry is currently a reviewer for the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was a member of the Pattern Jury Charge Committee for the volume on Business, Consumer and Employment litigation. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Austin Bar Association, Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association and he is a director of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA). He is licensed in Texas and Tennessee.
Larry is the lead author of the recent award-winning article, Remember the Alamo: The Seventh Amendment of the United States Constitution, the Doctrine of Incorporation, and State Caps on Jury Awards, 45 S. TEX. L. REV. 449 (2004). He is also the author of Jury Selection: The Plaintiffs Perspective, in the Summer 2005 edition of THE ADVOCATE. Larry has been a featured speaker at several CLE conferences, including most recently the 2004 Page Keeton Civil Litigation Conference and the 2005 Litigation Update Institute. He was course director of the 2008 Advanced Evidence and Discovery Institute. He is a Texas Monthly “Texas Super Lawyer” and a 2010 inductee into “The Best Lawyers in America” for Personal Injury.
